You've come a long way baby- I finally feel full

I have worked on the transition from one antique store to another on the other side of town for the last two weeks and I finally feel "full" in the new space and the old is closed. I have taken pictures each day I go in to see the progress and to feel that there has been progress.

From day one to yesterday, here's how far I've come along in the space.

A few items, a little on the walls, and an open box started the first day.

Second visit brought lots of chairs, new clear shelves for my cameras and some more suitcases. And reminders from the staff at Hanna's that I "still have some space".

Phase three- I'm moved out on one space and can pick and choose my favorite items for the space... which means the house looks like an antique store... and not in a good way.

Phase three brought more tables and some styling opportunities to the space.

In phase three, I created an "office space" on one end of the booth with my desk and awesome chairs serving as "guest chairs- perhaps I am missing Corporate America a little. However, this also brought the barrister bookcase for display for my bookend collection and a space for a fantastic hand cut lead crystal lamp.

Blenko glass- why you should have some!

I love a collectible that is functional. Murano glass vases, vintage salt and pepper shakers, and my personal fave vintage metal office items... but that's a whole 'nother post. I would suggest adding Blenko to that list!

Blenko glass is an American glass company that started making glass for windows in 1893 and later moved into the caste and blown glass objects still in production in West Virginia since 1921. Glass lends a lightness and elegance to a space. The colors can change with the light in the space and it gives a bit of sparkle!

The glass pieces from Blenko range from vessels like water bottles, bowls and decanters, to holiday items, candle holders and bookends. The bookends are my latest obsession. You can find them signed or unsigned, in the pebbled "ice floe" patterns- which really look like melting ice, and figural work.

Public Broadcast channels across the country are a great source for the story behind Blenko and often run the program during fund drives where you can get a piece of Blenko for a certain pledge amount. Though this is a great way to support public broadcasting and begin you collection, it's one of many. There is the website with new pieces, that can be signed for a small up charge. As well as the vintage market, where you will find a variety of styles and themes.

Are you a Georgia Bulldog fan? Love gnomes? Understand the luck that Koi fish can bring you? Well you should have been picking with me this weekend. But never fear, you can still have any of these! I'm selling and shipping.

Fitz and Floyd bulldog bookends from 1976. Fan-tastic!

Brass koi fish, needs a bit of polishing... which is my favorite thing for do. Nothing like it for job reward!

I think Ashford and Simpson were singing about these brass dogwood bookends. They are "solid as a rock" and heavy as one as well.

"Gernumblies Forestsi" for the Harry Potter Fans or Forest Gnome for the Tom Clark fans. Love this 10 inch gnome from 1983 and part of the Tom Clark Gnome series. He just seems perfect for this time of year!

Pickin' and Grinnin'- my faves for this weeks sales

I've completed some stellar shopping this weekend, some for clients, some for the local antique business, and some for the online market! Here are some of my favorites. I know it is real classy to take pictures by the car, but I was in a hurry and barefoot on hot concrete.

This week, I will be focusing on Dorm Décor. It is that time of year, and decorating a dorm room is a young person's first steps for learning their own mind, make a creative decision, and forming a personal design aesthetic. It's an exciting time for a young person and for their parents watching them grow!

First of the series will be about shopping hyper-local and choosing items that can establishing a personal aesthetics and can encourage design choices.
