Before and After- the linen chair furniture flip

Lovely linen chair with contemporary carved cabriolet legs, Queen Anne foot, and pretty nailhead detail. Detail image.

Nothing says comfort to me like linen- love it in clothing and furnishings. Nothing says dated like bargello Herculon- the king of industrial strength acrylic fabric... enjoyed by those who like the 1970's, itching, and fabrics that basically wipe clean. Ovbiously, I'm not a fan of the ol' Herculon.

Before with a kind of bargello- diamond herculon upholstery. Detail image.

Before chair

However, I found this Herculon-tastic chair with great lines, good wood, and it was sturdy.

So, after purchasing it and thinking about it for a few months, I decide to leave the wood natural and add a simple neutral linen upholstery fabric.

Then I found this fantastic Union Jack linen pillow and my decision was made. Off to the upholsterer we went!

She's a beauty!
After chair, now available at Interiors and Antiques in Vestavia.

Furniture flips- the computer armoire

I am super excited about the 1920's armoire I scored this weekend! It is in rough condition with a giant hole in the back and some junky "half a job", as my mom would say, shelves. So, it is perfect for a real revamp.

The previous incarnation was to house a TV. As it enters it's centenarian years, it is moving into the 21st century as a computer armoire. It is the perfect size for a small home office. The redesign will include a new back with holes cut for power cords, a writing surface as well as a pull out drawer for a keyboard or a laptop, some LED lighting in the "ceiling" of the cabinet, and maybe a cubby or a slide out spot for the printer.

The piece has great bones, now it just needs an ergonomic redesign and some paint!
Here's the homely lass now...

Got any paint color suggestions?

The next furniture flips! the tables

First, I was TOTALLY into chairs, now it's tables. By the end of this weekend, I plan to refinish and paint two side tables purchased from Scott's in Atlanta and finish my make-under project. As well as dwell on a table for a client.

Here's the line up!

This pair is going from medium wood tone with a gold finish to...

Or maybe a blue like this...

Then there is this treat of a bedside table... maybe a stain, maybe a paint job, maybe both! How cool would this be with the interior of the shelves painting a contracting color!

The Furniture Flipper- my new moniker

I have decided to take on a sobriquet... a moniker for the pedantic. Though admittedly sobriquet does sounds fancier. I will be known as the Furniture Flipper! To be used in a sentence like, "The Furniture Flipper strikes again!" referring to a recent jaunt to a thrifty shop, estate sale, of when presented with a particularly good refinish furniture piece, which I refinished!

This has been a Furniture Flipping weekend! Here are some previous finds and some "in process" pieces. Um, yeah. I like chairs! What can I say... they fit in my car easily!

This guy will be re-upholstered in to a peacock of a chair.

This vintage lovely is for a client, it will be living in the pink and orange condo!

This one will need some special love, however,I realized while editing the images that is has the same lines on the turned wood pieces as the set of dining room chairs I am working on. (see below)

Before chair, during chair and some details. ( I will be blogging on the project on Monday with all the details!)
