Black and white kitchen project in Atlanta

I had the opportunity to redo a kitchen in Atlanta this summer. The client wanted a black and white kitchen- of which we started a pin board on Pinterest.

She is opposed to subway tiles, but likes Moroccan tiles and wanted dark counter tops.

We decided on plain raised panels in a creamy white with creamy walls and a black granite with copper flecks.

The copper flecks sparkle under the recessed lighting and under mount cabinet lighting.

We kept the original medium tone wood floors, added red small appliances and used her collection of Tracey Porter Pottery.

The perfect French kitchen chairs

I am on the hunt for the perfect kitchen table chairs for my sister. She wants French-y looking. I'm thinking vintage, to which she thinks... and I quote... "I don't like smelly antiques." Though she did not say that about this exact project, but I am trying to prevent hearing that again.

So, I have been shopping, at an antique store, for awesome french inspired chairs. Here's some I found at Hanna Antiques in Birmingham this weekend. Not a "smelly" one is sight!

This gold shield-back chair is very sweet. I ike the hint of grey in the carving.

This set of four is not classically French. But they are dainty in a French way.

Aahhh, not here is the classic French countryside kitchen chair. These are my picks!

These I could not resist. They were originally 1970's faux bamboo brown. The owner had them sprayed and voila!
Great navy chairs.

Sneak Peek- New Kitchen in Atlanta

I have been working with my sister on her kitchen remodel and we are starting to see some results! We began with keeping the original layout of the cabinets and island because the problem was not the layout but the actual cabinets. So, new cabinets, counter tops, lighting, colors, and back splash. Left to do is paint, electrical, window drapery and a bit of jzuzsh-ing.

Here's a shot of the progress!

Note that you can see the other side of the kitchen in the windows, and there is an island in between. Creamy white cabinets, white Moroccan arabesque tiles, black counter top with a hint of copper sparkle.
