Inspiration everywhere: Eat the World with Emeril Lagasse

I tell my students that inspiration is everywhere and provide an online folder of articles and inspiration that they can see and explore. So, why not post about some as well!

Eat the World with Emeril Lagasse in The New Nordic

Last night I discovered Eat the World with Emeril Lagasse on Amazon.com. What a beautiful show and in so many ways. Emeril is excited and humble. He wants to share his quest to learn more and highlight the chefs in the world that are making these inspiring dishes. That alone is worth watching, but the visuals are beautiful! The colors, patterns, architecture... I hope that the filming team wins awards for this because it is inspiring.

I think like all dishes I love, these will be tasted again and again. The six episodes are all under 30 minutes and are a perfect taste before your "feature" movie or as dessert before going to bed!

How do you use this inspiration, you ask. Easy. Look at how they put colors together, how they compose the images to apply in your space, see what catches your eye and think about why and then consider if that is something you want to adapt to your world!

Shop inspiration: Silk pillows piled luxuriously in vintage suitcases

This display of my lavender sachets was visually intriguing for buyers back in the day when I was doing the farmer's market and craft shows in my area. The suitcases were great way to transport the sachets, too. They made it easy to pack and go to the shows, as well as break down the show quickly. 

 The old suitcases were a great talking point for customers. People are more likely to enter a booth when it looks like other people are interested. Plus, the bright colors of the silks are show to their advantage with the neutral palette of the woven rattan and linen suitcases.

This shop display inspiration for your Monday is not limited to just stores. How cute would it be to display towels, or other thoughtfuls, in your guest room.  Like the one below from Country Living Magazine.

A fantastic vessel for larger floral displays. A suitcase with some yard greenery, make fall tablescapes easy and inexpensive! Find the inspiration below!

A few nice pinecones, some tree branches and a little shrubbery trimming and you have a display! You can sit small vases inside the suitcase to hold the branches or simply use some chicken wire. Remember to keep your display in a triangular form to keep it looking neat!

Cold brew coffee obsessed!

My summer obsession is cold brew coffee! The keurig is getting a break this summer and my 4 cup French press is getting a workout. It is so easy and the taste is much better than coffee maker coffee! Plus, it is so inexpensive and no plastic bottles to throw away with no plastic contact plastic.

I love making it in the French press, because all I need to do is press it after 24 hours and store it in the refrigerator. Once you have poured the last drop, scoop out the ground with a teaspoon, give the French press a wash and start all over! Easy Peasy. Add milk, thin it with a little water, or drink it strong and black, you are in control.  Plan below!
