Review: Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs

I found it in the Sally Hansen section, but it might be with the tanning type products.

With the housekeeping over... Let's talk about the product. This is considered leg makeup, not a self tanner. So, no self tanner smell, actually no smell at all- even when it warms up (unlike self tanners). This is a HUGE plus! Unlike self tanners, this washes off when you bathe, though it is water resistant- according to the packaging. In other words, you need soap to get it off.

Like make-up for your face, this adds some color and lightly blends out flaws. It will not cover a birthmark, nor completely cover spider veins. See video. However, this is not designed to obscure every flaw so you can have a close-up on your legs broadcast on and HDTV. It's designed to blend flaws seen from at least a few feet away.

Once applied, it does not wipe off. So, kiddies who hug your knees will not wipe it off. Overall, I would give this a thumbs up. It does hide flaws, it does offer some color to pale skin and it does not smell! Here is my before and after on the spider veins with the Airbrush Legs. I apologize for exposing you to my spider veins! By the way, when I told my sister about bring picked for the voxbox, she said she loved this product. So, it is sister approved, too.

Then it dawned on me...

My mom has always said that her best thinking, maybe problem solving is a better term, time came just as she was waking up. Perhaps that is part of the origin on the phrase "dawning on me" from great thoughts occurring at dawn.
My dawn is more like daylight, I'm a late sleeper, because I tend to work late into the night. So, I wish my down looked more like the image to the right... maybe if it did, I'd not work so late and get up earlier!



Today was one of those dawning on me mornings. I know I was thinking, read solving, some problem as I was floating to consciousness and my dog was burrowing for a warmer spot on the bed. Then that thought morphed to a visual display problem I am having in my shop... or will have once the merch comes in. Then it dawned on me! I have an old barrister's "stacking bookcase" in the garage from my grandmother that was waiting for a refinish... but for display I just need a bit of interior paint because I need this display to look old. And, this really is old.

Now my visual display musings do no compete with James Watson who dreamed of intertwining snakes and realized that it was the solution to what  DNA looks like as a double helix... but I wonder if that thought occurred to him not as a dream in the night but as part of the near walking dawn.

technology- failure to communicate



For a router, this is pretty cool looking!

Today I spent 5 hours reconfiguring laptops, wifi printers, and roku boxes back to my old wireless router from the fancy new one I installed last night. This time included tech help calls, a lot of grimacing, and finding out that Netgear uses a 10 second loop (I counted) of blues music for their hold music. If I am frustrated enough to call the help line, why would you want me to be additionally annoyed with your music loop. How does Netgear think I might respond to the rep when they final take my call? Pleasantly, I don't think so.

Reflecting on today's events, and phone calls, brings me to something I have always felt- new does not equal better.
My new router, which boasts dual bands with 2.4 and 5 units of speed, sounds cool. Until, I speak with my ISP and find out that they are no where near broadcasting at 5 units (I really don't know what the speed unit is... or care). So, the dual bands serve no real use.

Then there is the cool looking Lucite stand that is made onto the router, which makes it too big to fit in the old routers location... but it looks cool.

However, the main reason the unit is going back it that it cannot talk to all my devices... at least not with the instructions provided and if Netgear had provided my with decent "live chat" or phone support, I might have kept it's for the looks. However, it has a gross failure to communicate!

Keeping my old router is probably the greenest of my tech decisions, recently. Saving very plastic technology from landfills is responsible, be it though figuring out how to make it work, or from finding a technology recycler (find a local one in your area, here). And though I was not purchasing the hot new thing, simply because it was new, it is important to remember that there can be more than one way to solve a problem. And that is what good design is about, solving problems! So yea... to my two year old Cisco Valet in the pretty shade of blue. Long may you route wirelessly!
