Though I am not a drinker, I love bar ware. The local sales recently have offered some fantastic pieces.
An estate of a spirits distributor, offered the most fantastic collection of glasses and promotional items. Then there was the ball room dancer with the awesome swizzle stick collection. She must have danced all over our hemisphere!
I have even found some fantastic decanters that I cannot decide to sell or stock lemonade, sweet tea and mint tea in the fridge all just a pump away... oh yea, the liquid pumps out. So cool.
These Southern Comfort glasses are completely awesome. They speak of the lazy South... a South I have never actually known, though I have lived here all my life... but I digress.
A South filled with people riding on paddle wheel boats, in cotton voile dresses and seersucker suits sipping drinks that are pronounced with an -ah somewhere in the word, like Side Caah, Burrr-bahn Sou-ah, or Kentucky Cool-ah.
I love the gold and turquoise colors, the line drawings mixed with squares of colors and the mix of sizes! I was excited that as soon as I started listing them on Etsy, they started selling.

Humidity woes. My new passive humidifer
Though I live in a region known for it's humidity, it is Static City in the Winter. And, I have begun to suspect that my dog need more humidity in the winter, like I do. Though thankfully, my aversion to dry air does not manifest as tummy troubles, as his does.
So, when my 3 month old humidifier stopped working this week. I was in trouble, and needed a better fix that constantly boiling water on the stove. So, I put my thinking cap on and figured out a passive humidifier. One that is easy, most people have everything you need, and takes very little to maintain.
It is the Air Vent Passive Humidifer... or there might be a better name.
You will need:
a rack of some sort, I choose a metal file sorter.
an absorbent fabric, I choose a linen napkin.
Thoroughly wet your fabric napkin and wring it out to prevent dripping.
Place the metal file sorter, or your chosen rack over the heat vents in your home.
Place the fabric over the metal file sorter and walk away. That's it! Check it in a couple of hours to see if you need to re-wet. It does not look classy, but it works, at least until the new one arrives.
~: TIPS :~
Wool can hold about 30% of it's weight in water, so if you need to get away with longer than 2 hours, try using wool.
Drying your linens in the home, not in the dryer, is a great option for adding humidity into the home. And, it will save electricity. Towels, sheets, and tablecloths can hang on a clothes drying rack and quickly add humidity to a space. For faster results, place the rack over a heat vent or near the radiator.

Danish Modern Love- great vintage, weekend finds
This weekend I pick something for myself- a rare event. I love Danish Modern and Modern Danish, in other words the vintage, as well as the current Danish design. In this weekend's vintage shopping, I found this beauty and I could not resist. Perhaps this will inspire a bedroom remodel!

New in the shop
It has been a while since I have posted a "new in the shop"... which might mean I have been remiss in updating the store. I have been working on the concept of a wreath of silver platters for a while. With questions like, do I weld them together, epoxy them, make them in sections, how do I make sure they hang correctly... etc. However, with the slat walls at Hanna Antiques, the problem is solved.
Here's the latest updates!
Umm, ignore my purse and tote bag!

Brilliant ideas from my sister- storage solutions
I am at my sisters and need a stain stick, she said check the back of the door in the wash room. And I found this bit of brilliance.
In the pockets are dryel, stain sticks, bleach pens, static sprays, etc. All the little thing that get lost and then go bad.
When I commented on how brilliant I thought it was, she said there was one in the sewing room, too.
Full of canned air, measuring tapes, scissors, etc.
Sew, smart on the sewing room door!

Color Inspiration- Light Grey and Pale Gold from Michelle Dockery at the Oscars
Inspired by the dresses from the Oscar's this weekend, I loved the subtle palette of Michelle Dockery's dress by Oscar de la Renta in pale warm grey and light gold. Really pretty! It would be really pretty in a home, as well. The strength of this dress is in the patterning of the fabric. The embroidery creates a tonal pattern of shades of grey from the shadow lines.
All shades of grey are popular in home right now, from the darkest grey browns to the palest cool grey white. Any of these can make a space seem cold without adding warmer colors like gold- as this dress did with gold sequins and the stylist with the pale gold accents. Taking this color cue, I have found some great inspirational examples for the home!
